If so, this brand new Automated Tensile Tester role could be perfect for you!   In the role of Automated Tensile Tester, you will be responsible for:
  • Undertake tribological/mechanical/numerical analysis of medical device components using automated tensile testing equipment
  • Write testing protocols and ensure repeatable, consistent and reliable test results
  • Testing in support of product development and medical device submissions
  • Translate mechanical/tribological scenarios into mechanical/tribological test procedures
  • Apply investigative skills to evaluate testing opportunities
  • Undertake technical and departmental projects including the introduction of new
test equipment to the requirements of applicable processes
  • Assist in the development and design of tensile testing processes, procedures and work instructions
  • Deliver all work within the requirements of the lab quality system
  • Adhere to company health and safety policies
  The requirements for the Automated Tensile Tester:
  • You must have experience of performing automated tensile testing for engineered components, medical devices or other similar products
  • You will have performed tests in fields of Tension, Compression, Torque & Metallurgical analysis such as surface, roughness etc
  • Experience writing protocols and reports to ensure consistency, reliability and repeatability of tensile testing results
  • You will have worked with and programmed automated tensile machines such as Instron or other materials testing systems

  • You will already have experience as a Maintenance Engineer/Maintenance Technician or similar engineering role with experience in maintaining, repairing and calibrating automated systems ideally in a manufacturing based environment
  • This could be from a range of industries to include Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, Medical Devices, FMCG, Personal Care, Food & Beverage or similar sectors
  • Hold a relevant engineering qualification (ONC, HNC, NVQ, City & Guilds etc) or be qualified by experience
  • Very strong analytical skills with proven ability to break down and solve complex problems in a logical and structured approach

  • Circa 10 years of experience as a Laboratory Manager, Formulation Lab Manager, Cosmetic Laboratory Supervisor, Senior Formulation Scientist or equivalent with expert formulation experience in the colour cosmetics/skincare sector
  • Ideally you will have international experience with a great working knowledge of international cosmetic regulations

  • You could have experience selling products in areas such as Autoimmunity, Immunology, Pathology, Clinical Chemistry, Oncology, Blood Transfusion, Clinical Microbiology, Capillary Electrophoresis or any other related area in clinical diagnostics/IVD
  • You could also be a customer focused industry based Applications Specialist/Technical specialist who wants to progress into sales OR a commercially aware Biomedical Scientist in the NHS who wants to carve a career in clinical diagnostic sales
  • Knowledge of Immunology, Serum Protein Electrophoresis, HB screening or HbA1c would be a big advantage

The requirements of the Advanced Research Histologist::

  • 1-3 years practical histology laboratory work experience from either academia, hospitals, biotech or pharmaceutical industries

  • Working independently on carrying out high quality tissue processing, cell culture, cell biology in the histology position

  • Develop and run tissue and cellular protocols and assays to generate accurate data
  • Ensure accurate record keeping, in line with CGaP standards
