Field Service Engineer – Laboratory Equipment   Location: Mainly site based in Slough with regional travel when required Our client is an industry leading manufacturer of high quality laboratory equipment and an approved service provider for Agilent HPLC systems! They are growing at pace and increasing the range of instruments that they can service and support which means that no two days will ever be the same for you! You will have the best of both worlds in this role as you will be a dedicated onsite engineer for an amazing pharmaceutical client in your local area but will still have the opportunity to travel to other client sites in the region when required! The requirements of the Field Service Engineer – Laboratory Equipment  
  • Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer or Site Engineer with a background servicing either medical device or life science/biotech laboratory equipment
  • You will hold a relevant Engineering qualification such as a BTEC, HND, HNC, City & Guilds etc in either Electrical, Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical
  • Experience of working in GLP & GMP environments would be an advantage
  • Must hold a Full UK driving licence and valid Passport
  • Experience of effective verbal communication skills in a customer facing or customer service environment, with excellent telephone manner
    The role of Field Service Engineer – Laboratory Equipment:  
  • Carry out repairs, calibration, and servicing for Agilent HPLC systems (1100, 1260, 1290 etc) and other laboratory equipment as required
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of the Company’s products and services and current research to keep customers and potential customers informed and maintain the company’s profile
  • Maintain data and provide accurate reports to deadlines
  • Always maintain adequate amounts of stock and equipment to minimise customer downtime and ensure compliance with contractual objectives
  • Develop and maintain effective customer facing communication and questioning skills to determine the issues to be resolved
  • Intermediate level IT skills in MS Office and report writing in Word & Excel
  • Ensure customer field service reports are completed and any surplus parts are returned to the office within a 48-hour time frame

  • Possesses the in-depth technical knowledge required for performing complex, analytical service procedures, instrument qualifications, and calibration tasks
  • Work with the sales team to support in the sale of service/maintenance contracts for Waters & Agilent Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry systems

  • Organise work processes and leads project assignments for instrumentation/calibration staff to fulfill contractual obligations to the client.
  • Reinstalls, tests, evaluates, calibrates, and maintains instruments or devices upon completion of repairs
  • Documents daily records of inspections, maintenance activity, repairs, and other work performed within approved guidelines and procedures
  • Communicates with customer staff and outside contractors in the calibration, repair, and operation of equipment, as necessary. Coordinates with outside contractors regarding repairs covered by maintenance agreements

  • Sourcing Candidates: CV searching on job boards, Headhunting, writing advertisements to attract talent, Posting & sharing job adverts on relevant recruitment portals. Filling jobs at speed!
  • Building and maintaining a database of available skilled people to search from
  • Identify candidate skills to match appropriately with vacancies at pace.
  • Carrying out telephone screening and interviewing - registering candidates fully to ensure we have accurate details on our CRM system
  • Submitting Candidates to clients via email/recruitment portals as required
  • Obtaining necessary candidate identification and Right to Work documentation such as Passports, Visas, and Driving License etc. to support Candidate applications
  • Gaining new business leads and passing these to Langton Howarth’s Business Development Manager to follow up and turn into workable vacancies; finding out who the best recruitment contact would be, contact details etc and passing these on to the BDM in a timely fashion.
  • Managing Candidates through our proven recruitment process, ensuring that you manage Candidates them successfully to gaining a job offer.
  • Taking pride in fulfilment of job roles

The Requirements:

  • To join the team at Scientific Supplies & Laboratory Recruitment Team as a Recruitment Resourcer you must ideally have some industry experience as a Recruitment Administrator or Recruitment Resourcer or Delivery Consultant with a minimum 6 month’s recruitment experience either in house as a Talent Acquisition Partner/Executive or as a Recruitment Resourcer/ Researcher/ Head-hunter or Recruitment Consultant within another Recruitment agency! This job does not need you to business develop, it is just purely fulfilment of roles!

In the role of the Field Service Engineer - Medical Devices:

  • In this fast paced Field Service Engineer role you will deliver first class service to my client’s loyal and happy customers by taking full ownership of tasks assigned and ensure their completion to a high standard of engineering competence within agreed timescales
  • The work will include but is not limited to fault resolution, ongoing preventative maintenance, installation, and commissioning, liaising with medical, nursing and facilities personnel and participate in a 24/7 on call rota
  • You will report directly to the Technical Service Manager and work closely with other field service engineers and office staff
  • You will receive extensive technical training at my client’s facilities in the UK, France, and Germany

The requirements of the Field Service Engineer - Medical Devices:

  • 1+ years experience in a similar Field Service Engineer role preferably already in the Medical Devices/Med Tech industries with experience servicing, repairing, and performing PM on NHS/Hospital equipment such as Operating tables, Heart Lung bypass consoles, Intra-Aortic Balloon pumps, Anaesthetic machines, Endoscopy Washers, Life support Ventilators, Steam sterilisers or similar equipment
  • Educated with a degree or similar formal qualification in a discipline such as Electronic Engineering, Electronic / Electrical, Industrial Instrumentation, Mechatronics or Biomedical Engineering
  • Willing to travel, predominately in the Republic of Ireland, occasionally in Northern Ireland and UK and when necessary to training centres abroad
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and CRM applications is required
  • Have a strong customer focus with good attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team to provide effective an efficient customer service
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to work under pressure in a dynamic and changing environment
