The Role:

  • Plan and implement experimental protein production projects for membrane proteins such as GPCRs or ion channels, solving any problems that arise
  • Undertake protein production studies, including choice of expression system, construct design, cloning, stable cell line generation, mammalian expression using transient expression, inducible vectors, BacMam system up to 10L scale
  • The Protein Science Team offers our clients a comprehensive range of services including: molecular biology; protein production for biochemical and biophysical assays, and for structural biology, including structural analysis of protein-ligand structures by X-ray crystallography
  • Membrane preparations and membrane protein purification using detergent solubilisation or other methods
  • Support routine laboratory operation and maintenance
  • Prepare and present oral and written reports on research activities to internal and external audiences
  • Actively pursue own personal development
  • Maintain appropriate awareness of safety procedures, attend required safety training and adhere to laboratory safety rules as defined by the host department
  • Ensure that all duties are performed in accordance with organisational standards, policies and procedures

The Requirements:

  • To be considered for this position you must be educated to PhD level (or BSc/MSc) with relevant industrial experience in membrane protein expression, such as GPCRs or ion channels, to join our clients Protein Science Team in a lab-based role
  • We are currently looking for candidates with relevant and proven experience (preferably in a CRO, pharma or biotech setting), supported with publications where applicable
  • You will be able to work independently in membrane protein expression for protein or membrane preparations used in biochemical and biophysical analysis, including project planning, construct design, cloning, stable cell line generation, mammalian expression using transient expression, inducible vectors, BacMam system up to 10L scale, membrane preparation, membrane protein purification detergent based
  • Other areas you could working in: CryoEM/ X-ray structure of/ structural insights or crystallography (desirable), GPCR/ ion channel/ transporter/ carrier protein/ ATPase, SMA or nanodisk based purification

The requirements for the Field Service Engineer: 

  • To be considered for this Field Service Engineer role you will already have 2+ years of experience as a Field Based or Inhouse/Site Based Service Engineer for a Laboratory Supplies, Biotech, Pharmaceutical or CRO organisation
  • You will have specific experience of servicing, repairing, and commissioning laboratory equipment such as Centrifuges, CO2 Incubators, Cryogenics Freezers/Storage, Liquid Nitrogen, Balances, Autoclaves, Microscopes, Vacuum pumps, or similar laboratory products
  • Hold a relevant Engineering qualification (ONC, HNC, NVQ, City & Guilds)
  • Very strong analytical skills with proven ability to break down and solve complex problems in a logical and structured approach
  • PC literate in Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
  • Strong relationship management and excellent communication skills/influencing skills
  • Experience coordinating and scheduling workload to achieve results.
  • Ability to work to own initiative but team orientated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Robust and assertive attitude towards achieving results and motivating team members
  • Being an experienced Mechanical or Electrical Engineer, you will be looking to specialise your skills into a more technical area

The role of Field Service Engineer:

  • Based remotely from your home location you will attend your customer appointments across the territory always ensuring that you deliver excellent customer service
  • You will be tasked with the installation, repair, and maintenance of technical equipment to schools, universities, hospitals, laboratories, and other technical environments.
  • You will work closely with your fellow Field Engineers, supporting them with projects and maintaining great communication with your office-based Service Coordinator
  • Whilst most of your work will be completed in the South of the UK, there may be the rare occasion where you will be required to travel to other part of the UK and possibly even stay overnight.
  • As part of any Field Service Engineer role, you will ensure that your complete job sheets, parts order requisitions and expense forms in a timely manner

The role of Pipette Field Service Technician:

  • Service and calibrate pipettes at customer sites
  • Generate and be responsible for paperwork in respect of the pipette service lab
  • Perform clinics in your area if required
  • Engage in escalations to assist a quick and acceptable resolution, maximising customer satisfaction
  • Ensure all requirements under Health & Safety legislation and required quality systems (ISO, UKAS, GxP, etc.) are actively adhered to

The requirements of the Pipette Field Service Technician:

  • You could be a Laboratory Technician, Chemist, Scientist or in an equivalent role with direct experience of calibrating pipettes from manufacturers such as Gilson, Eppendorf, Sartorius, Starlab, Greiner or similar company
  • An understanding of ISO, UKAS and COSHH standards would be an advantage
  • IT literate (Use of Collaboration tools, MS Excel and MS Outlook would be beneficial)
  • Valid UK driver’s licence and full ability to commit to both regional and national travel when required

The requirements of the Account Manager:

  • Ideally you will already have 1+ year’s experience in a field-based Sales/Account Manager role selling either Life Sciences or Analytical Chemistry equipment, consumables, or services (or a combination)

  • Maintain and regularly enter accurate and complete customer data and sales project information into the company sales database (SFDC)
  • Provide accurate timely monthly sales forecasts to sales management
  • Be able to clearly identify and interpret customer’s requirements, shape, and align their requirements to my client’s capabilities and apply solutions to the customer’s needs and effectively communicate these to customers
  • Exchange Account Information and Sales Leads within and across the commercial divisions
  • Attend and support through technical and business presentations, when required, trade shows, user meetings, customer seminars and other customer events
  • When required, assist in the yearly planning of the future financial performance of the Company by providing insight into the prospects for growth in your own territory

The requirements of the Sales Specialist:

  • You will already have a minimum of 2+ years sales experience ideally selling capital equipment or consumables in areas such as Single Cell Proteomics, Genomics, Cell Imaging, Immuno-Oncology, Cell Culture, Cancer Immunology, Cell & Gene Therapy, Molecular Biology, or similar scientific field
  • You will have established relationships on territory with customers in the Life Sciences Academic, Biopharma and Pharmaceutical industry
  • You will also have a Hunter style sales approach and be able to open doors & close sales
  • Hold a minimum of a BSc degree in a scientific/ biological subject (e.g., Immunology, Biology, Biochemistry). Immunology background/experience is a strong plus. A willingness to learn the science applicable to the Proteomics portfolio
  • Good working knowledge of CRM systems and proficient in PC software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), able to run basic technical software presentations
  • You will speak fluent or professional level English and hold a full and ideally clean drivers licence and valid passport

The role of the Sales Specialist:

  • Responsible for selling my client’s award-winning instruments in the field of Single Cell Proteomics, and Immune Medicine, supporting research areas such as Cancer Immunology, Infectious Disease and Vaccines, Cellular and Regenerative Medicine, Oncology, Inflammation and Neurology
  • Identify and develop new opportunities with a focus on key influencers and decision makers in Research, Translational Institutes and Biopharma accounts
  • Attend conferences, acquire strategic knowledge, and maintain customer relationships with a range of leading pharmaceutical companies, Academics and Research Laboratories across Europe and research into new market trends, funding, trials, and publications to identify new key contacts
  • Ability to handle detail, multiple tasks, and short-notice deadlines, with daily reprioritisation of work
