This is a brand-new role created due to my client’s exponential growth. You will be a true subject matter expert in the field of Trace Gas Analysis (SIFT-MS) and the go to person for all customers in the UK for this high growth market.

The requirements of the Trace Gas Analysis Field Service Engineer:

  • You could already be an experienced Field Service Engineer or Site Engineer with direct experience of servicing Trace Gas Analysis/SIFT-MS (Selected-ion flow-tube mass spectrometry)/ VOC (volatile organic compounds) equipment for companies such as TOFWERK, Honeywell, Johnson Matthey, Owlstone or related company
  • Alternatively you could also be working with the above equipment as a Researcher, Scientist or Chemist at either a University who specialise in SIFT-MS such as University of York, UWE Bristol, University of Cambridge, Keele University (or equivalent) or a company in industry such as Intertek, Givaudian or other
  • You will hold a BSc/HNC/HND (or higher) in a Chemistry or Engineering related field
  • As this role involves high levels of travel and regular over night stays you must be fully commited to this already
  • Candidates need, by nature, to be calm, clear thinking, practical individuals who enjoy and are good at problem-solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high standard of inter-personal abilities are essential attributes for the job
  • Willingness to travel on a National basis when required and to all areas of the territory to include Scotland
  • A full, preferably clean, UK driving licence is required


The responsibilities of the Trace Gas Analysis Field Service Engineer:

  • In this brand-new role, you will be the technical expert for my client’s SIFT-MS technology. Your focus will be to deliver equipment instruments, training and give after-sales technical support by telephone, email, and site visits across the UK
  • This includes repair, upgrades, planned maintenance and application support
  • Provide excellent technical support to our customers and to ensure that they remain customers for the long term
  • Keep up to date with the company's products & services and maintain an understanding of what the customer requires and relate this back to the appropriate person within the company to meet the customer's needs
  • Build and maintain harmonious working relationships with colleagues
  • Pass any new potential sales leads back to the internal and field-based sales team

  • Always ensure highest professional relationship with our customer base to achieve customer loyalty and escalate issues if necessary to solve critical tasks in the fastest way possible

The requirements of the Laboratory Equipment Engineer:

  • To be considered for the role of Laboratory Equipment Engineer you will already have 2+ years’ experience as either a Field Based or Inhouse/Site Based Service Engineer for a Laboratory Supplies, Biotech, Pharmaceutical, CRO organisation or similar
  • The ideal candidate will have experience servicing a range of bench top laboratory equipment such as Centrifuges, HPLC, Autoclaves, Balances, Water Baths, Shakers, Stirrers, Laboratory Ovens and similar
  • If you are not a scientific engineer currently you could be working in a Laboratory based role where you have gained experience of performing first line troubleshooting and routine breakdown support for the equipment mentioned above
  • Hold a relevant Engineering qualification (ONC, HNC, NVQ, City & Guilds) OR scientific degree (Biological or Chemistry based)
  • Very strong analytical skills with proven ability to break down and solve complex problems in a logical and structured approach
  • PC literate in Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
  • Strong relationship management and excellent communication skills/influencing skills
  • Experience coordinating and scheduling workload to achieve results.

The role of Laboratory Equipment Engineer:

  • As the dedicated onsite Laboratory Equipment Engineer, you will ensure prompt, flexible, customer focused specialist engineering and equipment triage support whilst maintaining compliance with statutory, regulatory and standards
  • This role heavily involves documentation both with the visiting engineers and logging information on the SAP system as you will be working in a GXP & ISO environment with regulated pharmaceutical equipment
  • Plan & carry out engineering maintenance and commissioning work associated with scientific equipment and systems in a safe, cost-effective manner to ensure minimum business disruption
  • Diagnose faults on complex equipment and systems to produce a satisfactory solution
  • Create, manage and review supporting documentation e.g., service reports
  • Support users in the preparation/design of operating procedures, SOPs, Change Control and the deviation, manuals, and drawings
  • Attend client meetings to review on-going performance, areas for continual improvement and opportunities for business growth
  • Build-up and maintain client relationships
  • Manage and improve the client service logging process and asset maintenance systems
  • Schedule and host 3rd party engineering site visits, ensuring QHSE compliance
  • Use technical knowledge to identify and source components and services
  • Manage the availability of essential spares to support the range of equipment and systems used within the R&D facilities in a cost-effective manner
  • Support contract management in the set-up, renewal, and budget of contracts
  • Monitor the performance of the scientific equipment and systems using Key Performance Indicators to instigate improvements and influence changes
  • Act as an ambassador, ensuring a first-class service is always delivered

Their equipment is used worldwide in the development and production processes of major customers the life sciences, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. There longstanding market and process know-how enables them to meet and exceed their customers bespoke requirements

The requirements of the Field Service Engineer role:

  • You will have 1+ years experience in a laboratory based role such as a Scientist, Chemist, Analyst, Equipment Technician, Lab Manager or similar where you have troubleshooted and maintained HPLC systems from OEM’s such as Waters, Agilent, Perkin Elmer, Thermo Fisher, Shimadzu, SCIEX or equivalent
  • Additional experience with equipment such as GC, GC-MS, LCMS, Spectroscopy, UV-VIS, FTIR would be beneficial 
  • Experience working in a GMP environment is ideal 
  • You will be educated in either a life science/chemistry or engineering subject 
  • Must hold a Full UK driving license & valid UK Passport

The Responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer:

  • Travel to customer sites to deliver routine planned maintenance and breakdown support in line with my client’s service plans
  • Refurbish and validate equipment for the refurbished instrument program in line with SOPs at my clients UK facility
  • Identify new customers or new market segments that could become long term accounts
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers to allow continuation of business and win incremental business
  • Perform onsite duties including, service, validation, repair, accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Complete and submit all paperwork to the admin team
  • Forge and maintains relationship with existing and new customers
  • Promote the company’s brand and range of services where applicable
  • Manage and be accountable for stock allocated to the service call
  • Provide remote support via phone and email to customers where requested
  • Maintain knowledge of the products and services

Benefits:

  • Base Salary Circa £35,000 - £40,000 (DOE)

  • £10 when in the field for up to 8 hours
  • Over time can will be paid in following fiscal year (January) or this can be taken of during the year as recover days, so no impact is made on statutory holidays

The Responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer:

  • Travel to customer sites to deliver routine planned maintenance and breakdown support in line with my client’s service plans
  • Refurbish and validate equipment for the refurbished instrument program in line with SOPs at my clients UK facility
  • Identify new customers or new market segments that could become long term accounts
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers to allow continuation of business and win incremental business
  • Perform onsite duties including, service, validation, repair, accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Complete and submit all paperwork to the admin team
  • Forge and maintains relationship with existing and new customers
  • Promote the company’s brand and range of services where applicable
  • Manage and be accountable for stock allocated to the service call
  • Provide remote support via phone and email to customers where requested
  • Maintain knowledge of the products and services

Benefits:

  • Base Salary Circa £35,000 - £40,000 (DOE)

  • To refurbish and validate equipment for the refurbished instrument program in line with SOPs at my clients UK facility
  • To identify new customers or new market segments that could become long term accounts
  • To build and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers to allow continuation of business and win incremental business
  • Perform onsite duties including, service, validation, repair, accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Complete and submit all paperwork to the admin team
  • Build and maintains relationship with existing and new customers
  • Promote the company’s brand and range of services where applicable
  • Manage and be accountable for stock allocated to the service call
  • Provide remote support via phone and email to customers where requested
  • Maintain knowledge of the products and services

Benefits:

  • Base Salary Circa £35,000 - £40,000 (DOE)
  • Fully expensed company car (hire car provided during probation)
  • Tax free daily allowance
  • £10 when in the field for up to 8 hours
  • Over time can will be paid in following fiscal year (January) or this can be taken of during the year as recover days, so no impact is made on statutory holidays
  • Pension -  6% employer contribution with a minimum 3% employee contribution after 3 months continuous employment.
  • 23 days holiday rising to 25 with continual service + 8 bank holidays
  • 3 x salary – death in service after 3 months continuous employment.
