Quality Officer

Salary Circa: £18,000 – £21,000 DOE + Up to 3% Matched Pension + Share Options + 3x Life Insurance Scheme + Child Care Vouchers + Free Parking + Holidays

Office Based: Ayrshire

The Requirements of the Quality Officer:

  • A BSc Hons Degree (or equivalent) within a Life Science or related field such as Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Food Science, Nutrition, Biochemistry or Chemistry is highly desirable
  • You will already have 1+ year’s experience working in a quality role as a Quality Officer, Quality Assurance Officer, QA Specialist, QA Technician, Quality Control Microbiologist or very similar in the Life Sciences, Medical Devices, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Clincal/Healthcare sector
  • Internal auditing experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of ISO17025 and ISO9001 standards
  • Use of QPulse – Quality Management System or equivalent electronic management system
  • Excellent communication (Verbal & Written) skills
  • Highly motivated, driven individual
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative
  • Live in a commutable distance to their wonderful offices – a beautiful Georgian building in Ayrshire – on a daily basis

The Role of Quality Officer:

Reporting to the Head of Quality & Compliance, you will be responsible for ensuring that quality activities meet with organisational requirements for quality management, health & safety, legal stipulations and environmental policies. The role also requires the Quality Officer to monitor, measure and report on quality issues, opportunities and risks within agreed formats and timescales.

The main features of the role are:

  • Issue, review and approval of QMS documentation, including protocols, specifications, workbooks, SOPs, validation protocols, and all other QMS documentation
  • Manage document review ensuring biennial review of QMS documentation
  • Perform core site activities of the QMS including CAPAs, Investigations, Complaints and Change controls
  • Perform internal audit/inspections in adherence to audit schedule
  • Completion of customer questionnaires and new product generation forms
  • Managing critical supplier approval
  • Managing and controlling archiving of Quality & Technical records
  • Control the preparation and facilitation of client/regulatory audits
  • Perform Quality and QPulse inductions with new personnel
  • Perform Quality refresher training and final product checks progressing to QA batch release
  • Carrying out raw material inspections to ensure standards are maintained, and isolation of any substandard or non-conforming materials
  • Generate safety data sheets using Chemsoft
