Business Development Manager – Health & Beauty Products

Office Based: Peterborough

The Requirements:

• As a Business Development Manager, you will be a hands-on sales driven individual who has a real understanding of selling consumer brands, understanding retail trends and is expert in retail customer relationship management

• Having a proven track record selling own label or private label products and/or contract manufacturing services to the UK’s major multiple retailers and grocers such as Asda, Morrison’s, Lidl, Tesco, NISA, Sainsbury’s, Boots etc. with an FMCG environment is essential

• Experience of selling private label/ own label product categories such as confectionary, food and beverage, electrical, stationary, gifting, wines and spirits will be fully considered; experience of selling own label personal care, health & beauty products in all categories to include bath, body, hair care, skincare, sun care, male grooming, luxury bathing etc. will of course be ideal but not essential

• Above all my client is looking for an experienced Account Manager, Business Development Manager or Product Manager who is commercially aware with a full understanding of Profit & Loss, margins etc. to successfully manage a number of major multiple, multi-million turnover retail accounts through successful planning, organisational and communication skills whilst liaising with internal & external parties in a fast-paced environment

• Possess a full and clean driving license as travel to meetings once/twice a week is required to meet with customers

• Lives in a commutable distance to the Peterborough Head Office

• Ideally educated to Degree level (not essential depending upon previous Retail Account Management experience and background)

The Role of the Business Development Manager:

• Reporting to the Commercial Manager and the Marketing Director your main responsibility will be to increase the company’s sales and profit through successful key account management of current retail and grocer customers and new business generation, up-selling the complete range of the company’s personal care contract manufacturing and own label production capabilities as well as managing the existing established relationships and existing product lines sold

• You will be responsible for winning business with the multi-national retailers & grocers for all categories such as home fragrance, personal care, beauty, hard soaps, bath & body, hair care, pet care, male grooming, candles & liquid fillings capabilities

• Receiving briefs from customers and working with the Buyers/Account Managers of the customers as well as internal Product Managers, Marketing Executives and NPD to realise these briefs into finished personal care products on the shop floor. You will also identify new opportunities to enhance existing ranges or create new sales opportunities for the retailers for new product introduction

• On average you would be managing three accounts and you would be their dedicated account manager, carrying out all financial analysis, keeping on top of all orders, making sure that all of the order values that come through are correct, managing the customers’ expectations and ensuring that are realistic

• Being reactive to any issues that may arise from the outset and making more senior members of the team know and working with them to come up with a solution before it has a catastrophic effect on the business

• Travelling out to customer sites maybe once every two weeks in the UK to attend client briefings or undertake presentations on proposed products in order to secure sales
