Trainee Service Engineer – HPLC, GC and GC-MS

Salary: £22,000 – £25,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus

Territory: UK Wide

Your Location: You will be based in either the Midlands (Birmingham/Leicester) OR Golden Triangle (Oxford, Cambridge or London)

The Requirements:

  • Previous experience (2 Years +) within a laboratory in a role such as: Laboratory Technician/ Assistant, Researcher, Instruments Leader or an Internal/workshop Service Engineer working with machines such as: HPLC, GC, GCMS, Chromatography or Mass Spectroscopy
  • As the Field Service Engineer you will be educated with an HNC, HND or a minimum of a BSc in a Life Sciences/Chemistry discipline or an ONC/HNC in an engineering discipline
  • Must hold a Full UK driving licence
  • Experience of effective verbal communication skills, with an excellent telephone manner
  • Able to demonstrate experience in supporting customers or internal employees such as training or general support

The Responsibilities:

  • Within the Trainee Service Engineer role you will undertake on the job training in the field or within the workshop with a Field Service Engineer to carry out repair, calibration and service of laboratory equipment such as: HPLC, GC, LC, GC-MS, CTC, Dissolution and online SPE
  • Perform preventative maintenance and service to contract schedules, whilst carrying out on site installation and operational qualification to manufacturer’s protocols, provision of effective & efficient service support to customers to given deadlines within the Field Service Engineer role
  • To fault find and resolve issues to customer expectations to Service Level Agreements and build/ maintain strong customer relationships and maximise customer’s use of the products and services
  • Arrive at our client for 9am start to effectively use time management and prioritisation skills to complete work to deadlines, respond to breakdowns that the office receive in a swift and timely manner
  • Demonstrate a proactive and self-motivated approach to maintaining current knowledge of products and services and consistently offer customers an enhanced service whilst building harmonious, co-operative and productive working relationships with all members of the company and maintain a co-ordinated team approach
  • Maintain, develop and report OQ/PV Documentation for the client/customer as part of the company’s services, work alone and as part of a team to achieve regional and business objectives
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of the Company’s products and services and current research to keep customers and potential customers informed and maintain the company’s profile. Maintain data and provide accurate reports to deadlines
  • Maintain adequate amounts of stock and equipment at all times in order to minimise customer downtime and ensure compliance with contractual objectives
  • Develop and maintain effective customer facing communication and questioning skills to determine the issues to be resolved
  • Ensure customer field service reports are completed and any surplus parts are returned to the office within a 48 hour time frame
