Trainee Field Service Engineer

Salary: £22,000 – £25,000 + Company Car + Bonus + Pension (6% employer & 3% employee contribution) + Healthcare + 4x Death in Service + 23 Days Holiday + 8 Bank Holidays

Territory: South UK

Your Location: Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Oxfordshire or Cambridgeshire areas

The Requirements:

  • You will already have 1+ year’s experience of working hands on with Mass Spectrometry and/or Chromatography equipment in a laboratory environment in either a Laboratory Instrument Support, Instrument Technician, Calibration Technician or Equipment Maintenance Technician role
  • You will already be the “go to” person for Mass Spectrometry/Chromatography instrument support, routine preventative maintenance and troubleshooting
  • You will be educated to BSc level in a Chemistry discipline such as Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or closely related area
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence & valid passport
  • Experience of effective verbal communication skills, with an excellent telephone manner
  • Able to demonstrate experience in supporting customers or internal employees such as training or general support
  • Willing and motivated to travel extensively and spend nights away from home

The Responsibilities:

  • Within the Trainee Service Engineer role you will undertake on the job training in the field or within the workshop with a Field Service Engineer to carry out repair, calibration and service of laboratory equipment such as: HPLC, GC, LC, GC-MS, CTC, Dissolution and online SPE
  • Perform preventative maintenance and service to contract schedules, whilst carrying out on site installation and operational qualification to manufacturer’s protocols, provision of effective & efficient service support to customers to given deadlines within the Field Service Engineer role
  • To fault find and resolve issues to customer expectations to Service Level Agreements and build/ maintain strong customer relationships and maximise customer’s use of the products and services
  • Arrive at our client for 9am start to effectively use time management and prioritisation skills to complete work to deadlines, respond to breakdowns that the office receives in a swift and timely manner
  • Demonstrate a proactive and self-motivated approach to maintaining current knowledge of products and services and consistently offer customers an enhanced service whilst building harmonious, co-operative and productive working relationships with all members of the company and maintain a co-ordinated team approach
