Your location: Based in the UK (ideally in the Oxford, Cambridge, or London regions)

Territory: UK & Ireland (involving up to 50% travel to customer sites)

My client is an established and market leading International company who design bespoke scheduling software for Laboratory Automation & Robotics technology

Their award-winning technology is used extensively by both Top 10 Global Pharmaceutical companies, Universities & Biotech companies!

The requirements of the Software Engineer:

  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or in Life Sciences with Computer Science experience. University degree or vocational equivalent will be considered
  • 3+ year’s experience as a Software Engineer/Programmer in the Laboratory Automation/Liquid Handling Robotics field is preferred (other Life Science/Biotechnology industry experience will be fully considered)
  • Programming experience using C#. Any experience controlling devices using ethernet, USB or RS232 would be advantageous
  • A customer facing attitude is a must for this role
  • Knowledge of databases and operating systems, specifically Windows 10
  • Be able to work at customer sites and regularly travel up to 50% within the territory and Internationally as required
  • Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of programming, and biopharmaceutical and research applications a plus
  • Capable of working independently, with excellent organisational and time management skills with a mind for responsibility and accountability
  • Full & valid driver’s licence and passport with no restrictions

The responsibilities of the Software Engineer:

  • Develop drivers and plugins for my client’s flagship laboratory automation scheduling software
  • Provide software coding support to the UK/EU Integrations team during the design, build and delivery phase of projects
  • Assist in the development of innovation projects to showcase in my client’s laboratories in the US
  • Assist in the development of technical methods and in particular any custom scripts and database SQL queries that maybe required
  • Work closely with all my clients’ customers to support their software installation
  • Assist platform installations and Site Acceptance Tests at the customer site
  • Responding to requests from the UK/EU Applications Team for custom software work
  • Be an active member of the software team, to keep up to date with the latest features and share ideas learnt from working with customers
  • Write technical documentation, including knowledge base articles, service notes, technical bulletins, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Support the UK/EU accounts team on software demonstrations that require a high-level of customisation
  • Assist with user training as required
