Quality Officer – Genomics

Office Based: Ayrshire

The Requirements of the Quality Officer:

  • A BSc Hons Degree (or equivalent) within a Life Science or related field such as Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Food Science, Nutrition, Biochemistry or Chemistry is highly desirable
  • You will already have 1+ year’s experience working in a quality role as a Quality Officer, Quality Assurance Officer, QA Specialist, QA Technician, Quality Control Microbiologist or very similar in the Life Sciences, Medical Devices, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Clinical/Healthcare sector
  • Internal auditing experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of ISO17025 and ISO9001 standards
  • Use of QPulse – Quality Management System or equivalent electronic management system
  • Excellent communication (Verbal & Written) skills
  • Highly motivated, driven individual
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative
  • Live in a commutable distance to their wonderful offices – a beautiful Georgian building in Ayrshire – on a daily basis

The Role of Quality Officer:

  • Reporting to the Head of Quality & Compliance you will be responsible for ensuring quality activities meet with organisational requirements for quality management for the genomic services laboratory
  • Issue, review and approval of QMS documentation, including protocols, specifications, workbooks, SOPs, validation protocols, and all other QMS documentation
  • Perform and maintain effective control of core site activities of the QMS including Non-conformance reporting, Investigations, Complaints and Internal audit/inspections
  • Champion a continuous improvement culture and direct the change control process
  • Control and maintenance of QPulse quality management system. Maintain KPIs from QPulse activities on a monthly basis
  • Analyse data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system
  • Lead investigations into customer complaints and medium/major non-conformances. Ensuring timely response to customers as agreed internally and/or according to QMS KPIs
  • Prepare and maintain data trending for specific customers, groups of customers, sample types etc. to an agreed schedule
  • Be proactive in monitoring, trending and reporting of corrective action effectiveness
  • Perform Quality and QPulse training and support
  • Implementing and maintaining a Quality Risk Management system to ensure that risks are adequately controlled
  • Ensuring that the supplier and subcontractor audits are performed and reported as scheduled
  • Control the preparation and facilitation of client/regulatory audits
  • Work together with the Laboratory Management towards gaining ISO 17025 accreditation for the laboratory
  • Working closely with Laboratory Management, drive global quality alignment
  • Controlling archiving of Quality & Technical records
