Programme Manager – Laboratory Architect Design

Location: Site based in Basel, Switzerland

This newly created Programme Manager role is the jewel in the crown for our client’s major top 5 blue chip pharmaceutical customer. This account is their most coveted customer, and it is no surprise that it is valued at more than 1 billion USD right now!

In this highly visible role, you will have access to the Chief Executive who is one of the 10,000 employees onsite. You will be directly responsible for the successful delivery of an exciting mix of refurbishment and new build laboratory construction projects on one of the most prestigious R&D campuses in the world!

If you have a track record of successfully delivering laboratory real estate capital projects for clients in the pharmaceutical sector, then this role is ideal for you!

The requirements of the Programme Manager:

  • 5+ years of proven experience as an Architect, Project Manager, Programme Manager, Project Lead, or equivalent role with direct experience of successfully delivering complex laboratory rebuild and/or refurbishment projects for clients in the Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical or Laboratory Services industry
  • Right now, you could be working for companies such as Roche, Syngenta, BASF, ISS A/S (International Service System), JLL (Jones Lang LaSall), Intega or any related facilities management companies in the life sciences/pharmaceutical sectors
  • Direct experience in workspace consultancy, architectural planning for laboratories, property strategy and real estate, delivery management
  • Fluent/Native in German is a requirement & excellent English skills (written & spoken)
  • Strong & current knowledge of local construction and consultancy market in Switzerland is required along with current GxP guidelines for laboratories
  • Profound financial/commercial knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and effectively manage stakeholder interests in a fast-paced/dynamic organisation, and have experience with commercial numbers and strategy
  • Skilled in leadership with the ability to articulate a vision and drive desired outcomes and digitally literate with experience in harnessing technology to achieve goals
  • Full Swiss/EU driver’s license and valid passport with the ability to travel nationally & internationally when required

The role of Programme Manager:

  • The purpose of this position is to lead individual, multi-disciplined laboratory real estate project solutions for a corporate pharmaceutical client throughout the Swiss region
  • This position will be responsible for the end-to-end Program Management of several projects in the Client’s Corporate Real Estate (CRE) portfolio, ranging from expansion of existing offices and/or laboratories to deliver fully fitted out offices and laboratory buildings as well as supporting the portfolio maintenance schemes
  • Follow established project delivery standards and assure project delivery in line with set requirements regarding cost, schedule, quality, statutory regulations, technical industry standards and safety
  • Drives and delivers projects aligned to TCO and any savings obligations, accountable for full end-to-end project performance in line with the contractual and commercial obligations, including integrated project delivery approach (FM and RES) bit as well within the wider divisions
  • Deliver management information, insight, and analytics on workplace laboratory performance
  • Promote, educate, and represent workplace in business decision making process in relation to laboratory space
  • Engage closely with the Central Team and Communities of Practice in relation to other related topics
  • Lead the global workplace and scientific discovery experience program integrating: Space, Equipment, Culture, Process and Technology and Service
  • Provide ‘first contact’ engagement with laboratory users and business (introduction of the change, identifying drivers, high level challenges and risks) in relation to laboratory workplace projects
  • Develop dynamic and innovative ways of engaging with laboratory users to ensure maximum impact and participation in the laboratory workplace change process
  • Ensure and facilitate excellent communication with associates, project stakeholders and team members

Salary & Benefits:

  • Base Salary Circa 130,000 CHF – 150,000 CHF DOE
  • 13,000 CHF Car Allowance
  • 20% Bonus
