Integrated Systems Specialist

Location: Initially based in Cheshire for the first 12-18-months and then transferring to a new facility in Cambridge

Your location: Cheshire or Cambridge

The requirements of the Integrated Systems Specialist:

  • As a minimum you must have 4+ year’s experience as either a Field Service Engineer, Automation Engineer, Automation Service Specialist, Technical Specialist installing/servicing laboratory automation systems such as Liquid Handling/Compound Storage/Laboratory Robotic platforms
  • You could also have experience of servicing Mass Spectrometry, Microplate Readers, Cellular Imaging Systems or similar automated systems
  • Previous experience working in either of the following industries Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology/Biopharma/Drug Discovery/Functional Genomics or directly related field
  • Experience of installing & servicing large integrated systems
  • Experience/Knowledge of C#, Python, Java, Visual Basic & other advanced programming languages is an advantage
  • You must have an engineering background in either a Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical or Mechatronics/Robotics discipline (HND/BEng/Meng level)
  • GxP Experience and training
  • Understanding of device networking and communications protocols

The role of the Integrated Systems Specialist:
Scope of the role:

The primary purpose of this role is to provide first-line software, technical & hardware support for HighRes BioSolutions CoLab platforms with the primary objective of maximising system reliability & availability. The role will also work with the wider team to support additional automation platforms when required and will be based in Cambridge with an initial 12-18-month secondment to Alderley Park to support the departments relocation to their new facility in Cambridge

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop Platform Specific Training Packages tailored to the HighRes BioSolutions CoLab platforms, intended for both iLS Engineers & the client’s scientific workforce
  • Develop and implement a proactive maintenance & system optimisation regime for equipment incorporated into the HighRes BioSolutions CoLab platforms in HTS
  • Act as ‘first-responder’ for critical equipment breakdowns, ensuring minimal impact on scientific activity
  • Carryout on-going system performance analysis based upon error logs, live run interventions and root-cause analysis & trending of errors to mitigate their reoccurrence
