Account Manager – Microbiology Culture Media

Salary Circa: £28,000 – £40,000 DOE + Up to 20% Bonus Paid Monthly + Annual Bonus + Fully Expensed Company Car + 3% Matched Pension Scheme + Laptop + Mobile + Private Medical Cover + 25 Days Holiday + 8 Bank Holidays + Xmas Shut Down + Excellent Product Training

Location: Field based in South East UK

Ideal Home Location: London, Cambridge Stevenage etc.

The requirements of the Account Manager

Essential –

  • To be successful in the role of Account Manager you must hold a Microbiology related degree (minimum of a BSc) or related degree that covers Microbiology modules
  • Ideally you will have previous laboratory experience working at the bench in a Microbiology laboratory
  • You must be based within the territory & ideally be based in the South East UK
  • You will have a minimum of 2 years sales experience in the Life Sciences/ Biotechnology industry (Equipment or Consumables) & have ideally sold Microbiology related products such as prepared culture media, dehydrated culture media, reagents, pre-poured plates or bottled & bagged media to industries such as: Pharmaceutical, Food Testing, Clinical, Biotechnology or other related industry
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence

Advantage –

  • Previous experience which meets the specification of the job description would be an advantage i.e. knowledge of: SAP, or any similar CRM system

The role of the Account Manager:

  • Achievement of annual territory sales and gross margin targets
  • To promote the company’s Microbiology products and services to customers within Industrial, Higher Education, Utilities, Food and Beverage accounts
  • Outgoing and confident personality, able to effectively engage with customers across all sectors in which they operate and work with all areas of the organisation in order to ensure customer requirements are met
  • An ability to deliver a comprehensive value proposition to meet customer needs which includes all relative components of the company’s capabilities
  • Work with preferred suppliers on the territory to ensure the correct product profile is sold
  • Ensure the customer record database is maintained to the correct standard at all times
  • Use the key business tools to help you drive performance SAP, Excel, i-Present and Core Suite

  • Has operations across all sectors conducting microbiology to include: Clinical, Pharmaceutical, Food, Water, Quality Assurance and Environmental Testing and has seen exceptional year on year growth in recent years
  • This is a brand new role created due to the growth of the company and my client is looking for an experience sales representative/account manager to join the sales team and help grow the business
  • The next natural step for this individual would be to transition into a sales management role as my clients sales team grows over the coming years
