The Requirements of the Field Service Engineer - Laboratory Automation:

  • 1+ year’s experience as a Field Service Engineer with experience servicing any type of electrical (or mechanical) technical equipment in industries such as Life Sciences, Liquid Handling, Biotechnology, Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry, Medical Devices, Clinical Diagnostics or Semiconductors
  • You must have a relevant qualification ONC/OND/HNC/HND/NVQ/City & Guilds or BSc/BEng in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent electronics training
  • You must be prepared to travel throughout the above territory and the wider UK area when required and overseas for training initially and within the role when required
  • Must be self-motivated and enthusiastic, have excellent interpersonal & problem-solving skills, and enjoy working independently as well as part of a long standing & successful UK & wider European automation service team
  • You must be computer literate and hold a full UK driving licence & valid UK passport to be successful within the role

The responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer - Laboratory Automation:

  • As a Laboratory Automation Field Service Engineer your key objective will be to perform instrument installation, application set-up, maintenance, trouble shooting, repairs and other service support activities as required
  • Solve customer problems, ensure maximum availability and functionality of the instruments
  • Interact with Customers, Sales, and Field Automation Specialists to resolve problems, offer advice and provide solutions in a timely & cost-efficient manner
  • Provide support throughout Europe when required
  • Plan, Maintain and Perform customer training courses across the territory
  • Escalate and resolve issues regarding customer complaints, exceeding deadlines, and other critical occurrences
  • Support the automation sales specialist with their sales efforts, product demonstrations and trade shows

Salary & Benefits:

The requirements of the Field Service Engineer - Chromatography & Dissolution Testing Equipment:

  • You will already be an experienced Field Service Engineer with 2+ years of experience installing, validating, and servicing one or more of the following types of Chromatography instruments: HPLC, UPLC, LC, GC & IC
  • You could also be a Chemist, Scientist or QC Analyst with extensive experience (3+ years) of using and troubleshooting Chromatography systems and ideally a good knowledge of dissolution systems in a GMP environment who is highly motivated to transition into a Field Service Engineer role
  • Experience working in a GMP environment is a must  
  • You will be educated in either a life science/chemistry or engineering subject  
  • Must hold a full UK driving license & valid passport with the ability to travel both in the UK to the Nordic region each month
  • Experience of effective verbal communication skills in a customer facing or customer service environment, with excellent telephone manner

The responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer - Chromatography & Dissolution Testing Equipment:

  • Travel to customer sites to deliver routine planned maintenance and breakdown support in line with my client’s service plans
  • To refurbish and validate equipment for the refurbished instrument program in line with SOPs at my clients UK facility
  • To identify new customers or new market segments that could become long term accounts
  • To build and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers to allow continuation of business and win incremental business
  • Perform onsite duties including, service, validation, repair, accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Complete and submit all paperwork to the admin team
  • Build and maintains relationship with existing and new customers
  • Promote the company’s brand and range of services where applicable
  • Manage and be accountable for stock allocated to the service call
  • Provide remote support via phone and email to customers where requested
  • Maintain knowledge of the products and services

The responsibilities of the Scientific Procurement Lead – Life Sciences:

  • Sourcing – You will be a key contact for new customers after they are setup on our client’s unique procurement platform
  • This will include analysing their spend and purchasing patterns to ensure they are achieving maximum value for money, performing tactical sourcing and negotiations to ensure the best result for the customer
  • You will monitor KPIs related to new customers throughout their first 3 months with Amici to drive team performance and ensure gold standard service
  • Customer Projects – You will be responsible for supporting clients with bespoke sourcing projects tailored to their needs. These projects may involve savings opportunities identification and delivery, streamlining procurement through supplier consolidation, collating bill of materials data or GMP documentation for GMP customers
  • You will be responsible for estimating the time/risk/effort related to each project and delegate where required
  • Team management – Manage the workload of your team and be the point of escalation for issues
  • Lead, coach and support the team to achieve annual business and personal goals
  • Be a key member of the Technical Sourcing Operations Team and contribute to the development of the Operational Excellence Programme
  • This includes, identifying areas of improvement, updating processes, training the team, writing procedures, and monitoring on-going effectiveness

  • This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who currently works in a laboratory in either Academia, Biotech, CRO, Pharmaceutical or Medical Devices etc as an Operations Manager, Technical Services Manager, Laboratory Manager, Senior Scientist or Study Director who is commercially minded and motivated to move out of the laboratory into an exciting scientific procurement role 
  • You could also be working in a scientific sales role right now selling laboratory consumables and want to progress your career in the exciting field of scientific procurement!
  • You will also be educated to a minimum BSc level in any life sciences/biological or chemistry subject
  • Have a solution driven approach to daily operational issues and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate exceptional negotiation skills with suppliers, working towards balanced, highly commercial, and sustainable terms
  • Understanding or experience of the procurement process for scientific equipment would be ideal but not essential
