Dental Nurse / Clinic Assistant

Salary: Basic is flexible depending on experience + Holiday + Other Company Benefits

Based: Nottingham

The Requirements:

• Assist practitioners in clinic and to support the SMT with implementing new service offerings and generating business within your skill range
• A minimum of 2 x years similar experience essential along with excellent communication and people skills

The role of Dental Nurse / Clinic Assistant:

• Perform high quality dental nursing whilst assisting the dentists or hygienist appointed in a safe and effective manner in accordance with the ‘Code of Ethics’ of the British Association of Dental Nurses and the GDC requirements and recommendations
• Establish and maintain productive working relationships with all team members
• Ensure surgical areas and equipment are regularly cleaned and maintained, including aspiration systems and autoclaves, paying all due attention to relevant legal and ethical codes
• Ensure the Dental policy in respect of cross infection control and Health & Safety matters are monitored and maintenance is carried out in a timely fashion
• Keep accurate records and ensure the recording methods are used in line with agreed practice policy
• Ensure efficient day to day management of the Dental practice, all Dental contracts, certificates and licenses are secure and are up to date
• Assist at reception and perform other clerical duties if required.
• Responsible for keeping all practice documentation up to date, including policies, procedures, contracts and handbooks for dental area
• Liaising with sales and supplier’s representatives as necessary
• Ensure that there is an efficient stock control and supply procedures for the practice
• Set-up and prepare the surgery for the type of patient and treatment planned before the start of each session
• Test autoclave before the start of each session, keeping all necessary recordings in accordance with HTM 01-05 guidelines
• Prepare the necessary materials and instruments
• Assist in the correct procedure for dental radiography, following IR (ME)R 2000 and I.R.R. guidelines always
• Ensure safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste
• Check patient’s medical history information is up to date and warn the dentists or hygienist of any problems declared.
• Chart and update patients records on the computer as necessary, and assist the dentists or hygienist in the completion of records
• Clean and sterilise all equipment and working surfaces to the required standards at the end of each session, including the sterilizing room
• Ensure that all necessary laboratory work is returned and ready for each session.
• Follow Health & Safety Codes, C.O.S.H.H and R.I.D.D.O.R. guidelines always, including when taking x-rays, handling mercury, disposing of sharps and clinical waste, resuscitation, emergency procedures and fire drill
