Business Development Manager - Automation

Basic Salary Circa: £40,000 - £55,000 + £14,000 OTE + Company Car + Fuel Card + 6% Pension + Healthcare

Based: National role UK Wide (Ideal location would be Cambridge)

Founded in the 1920’s my client are a privately owned, market leading industrial control, automation and highly engineering-driven business, producing and selling pneumatic and electrical control and drive technology for factory or process automation. Located in 61 different countries they have over 19,000 employees worldwide and 125 professionals based in the UK and an annual turnover of €3Bn Euros globally.

The Role:

• To develop and manage the relationship between the company and designated strategic accounts in order to maximise and secure the profitable sales of the company’s products and services to achieve or exceed sales targets in line with company business growth plans and ultimately increase the market share

• Provide sales projections based on the most up to date knowledge of their customers and market on a regular basis in accordance with the format and accuracy requirements defined by the manager, this a very long term sales cycle so the buying process last’s for an average of 2 years as a minimum

• The Business Development Manager must formulate realistic annual and medium term business plans for strategic accounts and specialisation area, developing a strategy to take to the market and use effectively

• Acquire the knowledge that is necessary to develop business according to company objectives and share any knowledge that would enable the company to achieve competitive advantages in the market

• To assist the Senior Management Team in the investigation of new or major market opportunities and to adopt S-TASK as personal development focus continually increasing skills, knowledge and attitudes (S-TASK is a set of definitions of standards that any individual in this company’s Sales role should know, understand and continuously develop)


The Requirements:

• Ideally you will have a minimum of 3 years within a Business Development Manager, Sales Engineer, Sales Representative or Sales Specialist role working within an; Automation /Mechanical/Electrical Engineering role. Experience of selling an Automation solution is essential

• You will hold an Apprenticeship/ONC/HNC within Mechanical or Electrical Engineer

• Ideally dealt/worked with companies such as; GSK, AstraZeneca, TTP Labtech, Kbio Systems, TAP Biosystems, Labman Automation, Brooks Automation, Valdor – the controls side of Lab Automation, Norgren or SMC Life Sciences division

• A very important aspect of the role is that you must be a highly motivated person; this role is at the beginning of the company’s journey and needs someone with great ambition to grow and evolve with the company
