Research Chemist – Inks, Coatings, Paints

Location: Cornwall

Basic Salary Circa £26,000 - £40,000 DOE + Company Wide Bonus + Pension up to 7% + 20 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays + Relocation Assistance + Private Healthcare for Family

The Requirements:

• To be successful in the role as Research Chemist you must be educated to a degree level within Chemistry or related field

• At least 5-10 years experience as a Chemist working within Coatings/Inks/Adhesives

• Experience working within a manufacturing environment

• Resilient and Results orientated, having the ability to work towards deadlines and under pressure

• Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential

• The ability to use a range of PC-based applications

• Energetic and Optimistic. A real team player.

The Role:

• Formulation Designs

• Coordinating projects from cradle to grave, providing technical support and troubleshooting throughout the project

• Progressing projects with autonomy, but also having the interpersonal skills to integrate into the team for group communication

• Managing projects within the R&D Scope, updating the Laboratory Administrator and Technical Director regularly with your results

• Evaluating and selecting raw materials for use within formulation

• Liaising with suppliers

• Remain focussed full on project objectives in order to meet deadlines

• Working with other key Technical, Production and Sales personnel to ensure the effective flow of information within the business

• Producing pilot coatings & employment test procedures for establishing functionality/performance

• Preparing for and conducting pre-production trials

Their cutting edge products are sold commonly to printers for use within various forms of media/advertisement

• As a research based manufacturing company they are very sensitive to the demand for new and innovative imaging products. They underpin this with the constant investment in their talent and technology required to maintain their hard-won position as a market leader in functional surface coating chemistry

• Their investment programme continues this year with the commissioning of a state-of-the-art milling, mixing and coating manufacturing unit. This enables them to produce a new intelligent range of products developed by the dedicated R&D department

• Opportunities to progress into Laboratory Management positions and longer term opportunities to progress into Technical Director positions are available.
