Laboratory Technician – Coatings, Inks, Paints
Location: Cornwall
Salary: £19,000 pa + Healthcare + Pension + 20 Holiday Days + 8 Bank Holidays + Companywide Bonus
The Requirements of the Laboratory Technician:
• Proven excellent customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively

• A-Level Chemistry / a scientific orientated higher education qualification is advantageous

• Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills

• Good problem solving capabilities and confidence to react promptly to deliver the best service possible

• Good time management skills, ability to be flexible and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Basic IT skills required (including Microsoft Word/Excel)

• Experience of working in a laboratory environment

• Experience working with SHE policies and procedures

• Be a good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the organisation and team members

• To be flexible with working hours when required in order to deliver the service required to our customers

The Role of the Laboratory Technician:
• Supporting formulation design, largely adjustments to formulae to assist processing / performance

• Coordinating application testing of coated products (image performance, coating / image permanence, physical, optical, electrical tests)

• Maintaining laboratory apparatus, arranging servicing, maintaining consumable inventory

• Running product ageing tests

• Organising short-run sampling of prototype products

• Assisting R&D chemists with pre-production trials. Assisting Technical Support staff with trouble-shooting production issues

• The ability to progress tasks with minimal supervision, but also having the necessary interpersonal skills to integrate within a team for group communication & when projects dictate

• Managing regular and ad hoc tasks within the technician scope, updating staff on a daily basis
